Luke Rogers, raised Independent, Fundamental Baptist and a seminary graduate, worked for churches and was on the cusp of becoming associate pastor of a megachurch when the head pastor told him to look at the church by-laws and see which didn’t align with the Bible.

As Rogers honestly read and tested the by-laws, he found that much more was wrong—not only with the by-laws but with the very doctrine of every mainstream church. This revelation involved returning to the Laws in the first five books of the Bible that had been largely forgotten, such as not eating pork, celebrating Saturday as the Sabbath, and eschewing man-made holidays such as Christmas and Easter. In doing so, Rogers lost all his friends and some of his family—but he found new ones.
